Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of CaseCalm (the “Service”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. CaseCalm is operated by JobCannon Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales.
1. What CaseCalm is — and isn’t
CaseCalm is an information service and document drafting assistant for people in England and Wales who have received a county court claim or employment tribunal claim and choose to represent themselves (Litigants in Person, or LiPs).
CaseCalm provides:
- Information about UK Civil Procedure Rules and court procedures
- AI-assisted drafting of court documents that you review and file
- Procedural guidance, including deadline tracking
- An optional referral service to vetted UK solicitors and barristers
CaseCalm is not a law firm. CaseCalm is not a solicitor or barrister. CaseCalm does not provide legal advice. The information and documents we provide do not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such.
You are responsible for:
- Reviewing every document before filing or sending it
- Filing documents yourself with the court
- Making your own decisions about your case
- Meeting all court deadlines
2. Who can use CaseCalm
You must be 18 or older to use CaseCalm. You must have legal capacity to enter into a contract. The Service is intended for use by individuals in England and Wales relating to civil court or employment tribunal matters in those jurisdictions.
If you are using CaseCalm on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company to these terms.
3. Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We’re not liable for loss caused by your failure to keep credentials secure.
We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, that show abusive use, or that we reasonably believe are being used to mislead the court or other parties.
4. Subscription and billing
CaseCalm offers monthly and annual subscriptions billed via Stripe. Pricing is shown on the pricing page and is in pounds sterling (GBP). VAT is charged where applicable.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least one business day before the renewal date. You can cancel any time in your account settings or by emailing billing@casecalm.com. Cancellation stops future renewals; we don’t refund the current month’s subscription except as described below.
Refunds: we offer a 14-day refund window from your first subscription charge if you change your mind, in line with the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. After that, refunds are at our discretion.
Failed payments: if a payment fails, we’ll retry up to three times over 14 days. If the third retry fails, we’ll suspend your account; you’ll keep read-only access to your case data for 30 days before deletion.
5. What you may not do
Don’t use CaseCalm to:
- File documents intended to mislead a court
- Make claims you know are false
- Defame anyone in a document you draft with our assistance
- Threaten or harass another party
- Bypass any technical or legal restrictions
- Resell or sublicense the Service
- Scrape, copy, or reverse-engineer the Service
- Use the Service to provide legal services to third parties (we are built for personal use by a litigant; business use requires a separate agreement)
We may suspend or close accounts for any of the above.
6. AI-generated content
CaseCalm uses AI (currently Google Gemini) to draft documents and provide information. AI can make mistakes. You must review every output before relying on it. Specifically:
- Check that any cited court rules, form references, and deadlines are current and apply to your situation
- Verify that any draft document reflects your actual facts
- Don’t rely on AI predictions of case outcomes — we don’t predict outcomes, and any output that appears to do so should not be relied on
If you spot AI errors that could affect a user’s case, please email support@casecalm.com so we can investigate and refine.
7. Intellectual property
We own CaseCalm — the brand, the Service, the underlying software, templates, and guidance content (except your case data and the documents you draft using the Service).
You own the case data you enter and the documents you draft using the Service (subject to ordinary copyright in court forms).
You give us a non-exclusive licence to process your case data to provide the Service to you, in line with our Privacy Policy.
8. Referrals to solicitors and barristers
CaseCalm may refer you to a solicitor or barrister from our partner network. If you instruct a partner via our referral, we receive a referral fee from them, ranging from £50 to £300 plus a small percentage of fees in complex matters. This fee does not affect the rate you pay the solicitor or barrister.
You are free to choose any solicitor or barrister, not just our partners. The Law Society’s “Find a Solicitor” tool and the Bar Council’s “Direct Access Portal” are useful starting points. Citizens Advice and the Free Representation Unit may offer free help for some cases.
We do not refer in Personal Injury matters, as referral fees in those cases are prohibited by section 56 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 or the subscription fees you paid us in that period
- We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses
- We are not liable for outcomes in your case
- We are not liable for your failure to meet a court deadline
- We are not liable for your failure to review documents before filing
- We are not liable for the actions of solicitors or barristers we refer you to
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be excluded under UK law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify us against losses we suffer because of your breach of these terms or because of content you submit through the Service that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes another person’s rights.
11. Termination
You can stop using CaseCalm and close your account at any time.
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if your account is dormant for 12 months, or if we discontinue the Service.
On termination, your case data will be retained for the periods described in our Privacy Policy, then deleted.
12. Changes to the Service or terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is material, we’ll give you 30 days notice by email and an in-product notice. Continued use after the change takes effect counts as acceptance. If you don’t agree to a change, you can close your account before it takes effect.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
If you have a complaint, please email support@casecalm.com first; we’ll do our best to resolve it within 14 days. If we can’t resolve it, you may have a right to refer the complaint to a relevant ombudsman service depending on the nature of the complaint.
